  • Live Greek music which had all groups sharing dance time.
  • Surprise visit by the Mayor of Marion, Felicity-Ann Lewis, who had a great time and shared many positive comments
  •  Three great door prizes thankfully received by happy volunteers!
  •  Presentation of 80 certificates by Mary-Lou who made everyone feel appreciated and special
  •  Members of the three groups mixing happily and making new contacts.
THE RESULTS

The participants have volunteered for many years and apart from verbal thankyous, they had never received a token of appreciation in this special way before.

This resulted in some of these people feeling honoured, respected and extremely grateful to receive this tangible proof of their efforts.

They could not wait to share their experience with family and other club members—they were bursting with pride!

It is planned to share future activities between the groups to strengthen the bonds commenced on their special day.

SUMMARY

The afternoon, although hot, progressed with friendly, enthusiastic harmony combined with an openness and respectful sharing.

A huge thank you to all who supported and attended this inaugural, successful event, especially the Office of Volunteers without whose financial support the afternoon would not have proceeded.

Being taken aback by how special the volunteers felt and the pride that became obvious, it was seen that similar events, combining groups and significantly recognizing volunteers for their tireless efforts, should be a strong focus for the future! Well done everyone!!
