Born in Karitsa, Lakonia, on 22 May 1933, Kostas belonged to the generation whose lives were shaped by the hardships of post-war Greece, yet whose courage and determination helped build a brighter future for their families in Australia.
He married Dimitroula (née Drouggani) from Vlisidia of Kynouria, and together they raised a close and loving family.
In January 1962, sponsored by his brother John Katsambis, Kostas, Dimitroula and their young family boarded the Patris and embarked on the life-changing journey to Australia. After arriving in Melbourne, they settled in Adelaide, where they began the next chapter of their lives.
Like so many pioneers of the Laconian migration, Kostas never forgot the helping hand extended to him when he first arrived. Once established, he and Dimitroula, in turn, sponsored relatives to migrate to Australia, continuing the chain of generosity that helped strengthen both families and the wider Laconian community.
Remembered as a quiet, hardworking and devoted family man, Kostas represented the values that defined his generation: humility, perseverance, loyalty and an enduring love for his birthplace.
We extend our sincere condolences to his beloved wife Dimitroula, his sons and their families, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
